MaAnt D2 Grinding Pen is a multi Functional Smart Grinding Pen .This battery operated Aluminum Alloy pen can be used to grind, cut, drill holes, remove screwhead, carve and polish. You can use it for BGA work, trace repair, Lattice cutting, along other things such as metal, wood work, porcelain etc. The pen comes with a number of tool attachments, that simply push onto the spindle.
The grinding pen is most useful for PCB track repairs, it can be used to remove the top layer of solder mask on a track, if it was required to solder a pad strip onto it to fix say a lifted track pad.
It also has its uses for cutting down into multi layer boards for fixing broken tracks on the inner layers. Many graphics cards have upto 14 layers, and a common problem is a crack near the PCIe connector, resulting in some of the inner track having a break in them.By using the MaAnt D2 Grinding Pen each layer is cut away to reveal the broken track so it can be bridged with very fine wire, solder mask is then used to fill that bottom layer, and then the next layers track is fixed repeating the process to the top layer.
